Counselling Services

As we go through life, we all have experiences which change us.  Not all of these are wanted or expected and sometimes the result is not what we thought it would be. Counselling can help you to focus on your issues.

Qualified counsellors have been trained to listen in a manner which helps you focus, discover, choose options and deal with difficult feelings and events.  They can help you recognise how you interact and communicate with others.  As a result you may gain a greater awareness of yourself or of situations.  The counsellors' job is to listen, without judgement,  supporting the changes you decide that you that you want to make, in your ways of thinking and behaving.

Stonework, art, play and creative writing maybe offered as well as talking.  Sessions are confidential, unless your safety or that of another is at risk, e.g.abuse. Counselling can take as little as a single session  or longer.  How long depends on you and your counsellor and what you need to talk about.

Counsellors have supervision from an independent counselling supervisor, regularly and may speak about you, but no surnames are used at these meetings.  This helps to make sure that you are getting an exemplary  service.

There are occasions in life when talking to friends and family isn't enough and it's at those times that professional counselling can help.  It provides a safe confidential space to talk about those issues you can't discuss with anyone else and when you feel ready to deal with them.  These might be abuse, anger, anxiety, abortion, bereavement and loss, bullying, depression, loneliness, lack of self confidence or self esteem, relationship, work or any number of other issues
